Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta Completes Preparations for Its 7th Intl. Conference

Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta is set to hold its 7th international conference on Fatwa and Sustainable Development Goals from 17-18 October 2022, with the participation of high-level delegations from the UN and WHO along with Muftis, ministers, and scholars from over 90 countries

The upcoming conference will be held under the auspices of H.E President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi; the program will be to define the role of fatwa in promoting sustainable development and addressing environmental issues like climate change

In a statement, Egypt’s Grand Mufti and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, Dr. Shawki Allam, announced that the significance of this year’s conference stems from God’s command to construct the earth and fulfil man’s vicegerency and deal with climate change issues facing the world from a religious perspective.

On his part, Dr. Ibrahim Negm, Senior Advisor to Egypt’s Mufti and Secretary-General for the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, pointed out that the conference focuses on the relationship between fatwa and sustainable development and discusses providing religious leaders with means of contribution to climate protection.

Dr. Negm added that addressing “the role of fatwa in eradicating poverty and hunger and achieving the well-being of people” comes on top of the conference’s agenda.
