Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta has issued 1,563,250 fatwas in 2022, according to the Grand Mufti Shawki Allam.
About 63% of these fatwas related to matters of family protection, marriage and divorce, while 12% of them were concerned with religious extremism. The rest addressed topics such as financial transactions, worship and etiquette.
Recently, Dar al-Ifta created a hotline through which Egyptians can contact them with their personal inquiries, as well as the ‘Fatwa Pro’ app to accommodate worshippers abroad, with plans on making it available in 12 languages.
